Super Bowl LI Preview

It’s come down to this, two teams will be vying for Super Bowl LI this Sunday at NRG Stadium in Houston. One team will be going for their 5th Super Bowl, while the other will be going for their first in franchise history. It’s the top defense against the top offense, something’s got to give. Here’s my preview:

New England Patriots (14-2) vs. Atlanta Falcons (11-5) 6:30 PM ET (FOX)

The Patriots are making their ninth Super Bowl appearance. Quarterback Tom Brady’s going for his fifth ring. Brady must avoid throwing interceptions against a Falcons defense that will try to rush and get to him. Brady will try to make sure his guys, wide receivers Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Chris Hogan, (who had a breakout game in the AFC Championship), and tight end Martellus Bennett get the ball. While running backs LeGarrette Blunt and Dion Lewis will try to move the chains.

As for the underrated defense, defensive end Chris Long and linebacker Dont’a Hightower will have the task of putting the pressure on Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. While the secondary with safeties Patrick Chung and Devin McCourty as well as cornerbacks Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler will try to keep the Falcons’ receivers at bay.

The upstart Falcons are making just their second Super Bowl appearance. I’m sure they’ll feel like it’s them against the world. The Falcons want to win this, not only for themselves but for the city of Atlanta. Perspective MVP quarterback Matt Ryan threw for four touchdowns, zero interceptions, and wasn’t sacked in the NFC Championship game. He must put up similar numbers against a staunch Patriots defense. Wide receiver Julio Jones, who has a toe injury, and center Alex Mack, who has an ankle injury, will be good to go Sunday. The Patriots secondary will be busy with Jones, fellow receiver Mohammed Sanu, and don’t forget running backs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, will try to move the chains on the ground as well.

The Falcons’ defense will be very occupied as well, veteran defensive end Dwight Freeney knows Brady well, Freeney, as well  as tackle Jonathan Babineaux will try to rush Brady. Linebackers Vic Beasley Jr. and Deion Jones will try to slow down the Patriots running backs. Safeties Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen will have the difficult job of trying to limit the Patriots’ receivers.

This should be a fun and entertaining Super Bowl, enjoy the game everyone!!

Florida Prosecutors Offer to Drop Robert Kraft’s Solicitation Charges

Anthony DiMoro

Prosecutors in Florida have offered to drop solicitation of prostitution charges against New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft if he agrees to admit that he would have been proven guilty had he gone to trial to fight the charges, according to the Wall Street Journal’s Andrew Beaton.

Kraft, 77, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of first-degree solicitation after he was allegedly caught on camera paying for, and receiving, oral and manual sex at the infamous Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida.

One of the incidents allegedly occurred back in January on the morning of the Patriots’ AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which the Patriots won en route to their Super Bowl victory.

According to the report, prosecutors have offered the same deal to the other men charged in the sting. Beaton considered the offer “unusual” (h/t NBC Sports Boston).

Additionally, if Kraft decides to take the deal, the Patriots owner will have to complete an education course about prostitution, complete 100 hours of community service, and undergo screening for sexually transmitted diseases.

According to ESPN, Kraft is one of 200 people that allegedly engaged in sex acts at Florida massage parlors that were targeted in the sting.

Kraft has denied the allegations.

Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill Under Investigation

Anthony DiMoro

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is under investigation for battery, according to the Kansas City Star’s Steve Vockrodt and Brooke Pryor.

Per the report, the team is aware that law enforcement is currently investigating Hill, adding that the Kansas Department of Children and Families is also investigating Hill.

“I can only confirm we received a report and an investigation is ongoing,” Mike Deines, spokesperson for DCF, said.

The Kansas City Star has obtained a police report from the Overland Park Police Department regarding a battery incident that lists a juvenile as being the victim, along with Hill’s fiancee, Crystal Espinal, listed under “others involved.”

While the report was dated as last Thursday, the exact date of the incident remains unclear, per the report.

“The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill,” the Chiefs said in a statement to The Star. “We’re in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities. We’ll have no further comment at this time.”

KCTV 5 obtained another Overland Park police report dated March 5th, a report of child abuse or neglect that was closed 3 days later when authorities declined to prosecute.

Hill has a troubling history. Back in 2014, Hill reportedly choked and punched Espinal, who at that time was eight weeks pregnant with their son. Hill pleaded guilt to domestic assault and batter by strangulation later in 2015.

The Chiefs have seen Hill blossom into a star, and they have been negotiating a contract extension with Hill that would make him the highest paid wideout in NFL history, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
