Andre Ward is a burgeoning great.

The Ring, WBA, WBC and super middleweight champ Andre Ward will defend his belts against former titlist Kelly Pavlik on January 26 at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.

Ward (26-0, 14 KOs), a Bay Area native who became the first American to capture boxing gold in eight years as a light heavyweight at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, easily retained his belts by battering formidable Ring Magazine and WBC light heavyweight titleholder “Bad” Chad Dawson en route to achieving a 10th round TKO on September 8 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

Prior to dominating Dawson (31-2, 17 KOs), “The Son of God” unified two belts and won The Super Six World Boxing Classic when he trumped Carl Froch by unanimous decision on December 17 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

The 28-year-old Ward, voted in the wintertime as the 2011 “Fighter of the Year” by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), has unbelievably not vacated the squared circle on the losing end of a bout since he was a 12-year-old amateur.

Sergio Martinez is a truly great prizefighter.

The Ring and WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is planning to defend his belts on April 27 at a venue to be determined in the Argentinean’s native country.

Martin Murray is the desired opponent, as long as he wins his upcoming fight,” said Martinez promoter Lou DiBella, 52, a graduate of Tufts University and Harvard Law School. “There’s a huge competitive thing between Argentina and the Brits.”

The 30-year-old Murray (24-0-1, 10 KOs), a standout amateur pugilist who was born in St. Helens, is next slated to battle Venezuelan Jorge Navarro on November 24 at the Manchester Arena in England.

After suffering a partially torn meniscus while defeating Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. by a unanimous decision to capture the WBC middleweight title on September 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 37-year-old Martinez decided to have arthroscopic surgery on his injured right knee on Monday in Spain.

Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KOs), the 2010 “Fighter of the Year” who is currently ranked by Ring Magazine as the fourth preeminent pound-for-pound boxer in the world, also sustained a broken left hand while utterly outclassing the 26-year-old Chavez (46-1-1-1, 32 KOs) for 11 rounds.

A bout pitting Floyd Mayweather against Sergio Martinez would be nothing short of remarkable.

The Ring and WBC Diamond middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, who defeated Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. by a unanimous decision to win the WBC middleweight title on September 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, publicly challenged“Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather to fight on Thursday.

As a southpaw battling with a broken left hand for roughly 24 minutes, Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KOs), the 2010 “Fighter of the Year” who is currently ranked by Ring Magazine as the third preeminent pound-for-pound boxer in the world, utterly outclassed the 26-year-old Chavez (46-1-1-1, 32 KOs).

Conversely, Mayweather (43-0, 26 KOs), who was released to the public on August 3 after serving 63 days behind bars at the Clark County Detention Center for beating his former sweetheart two years ago while a couple of their children watched, is not scheduled to enter the squared circle at any point soon.

Considering he lost to Timothy Bradley, Manny Pacquiao shouldn’t fight Juan Manuel Marquez

Sadly, the record books will always read that Bradley beat Pacquiao.

Rather than giving fans another “boring” fight against WBO light welterweight champion Timothy BradleyManny Pacquiao will battle Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bradley (29-0-0-1, 12 KOs) unwittingly stole Pacquiao’s belt when criminally incompetent judges handed him a split decision in June at the MGM Grand Arena in “Sin City.”

Roger “Pit” Perron is a venerable boxing trainer from Brockton (Mass.) who now works with Mike and Rich Cappiello at their gym, Cappiello Brothers Boxing and Training.

“The fight was an absolute disgrace. Pacquiao manhandled Bradley,” said Perron, 75, who worked in the 1980s with International Boxing Hall of Famer Marvelous Marvin Hagler at the Petronelli Brothers Gym. “Corrupt officials and decisions like this one are destroying boxing.”

Nevada attorney general finds no corruption in Timothy Bradley’s unwitting theft of Manny Pacquiao

Bradley allegedly defeated Pacquiao fairly.

Nevada state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto managed to uncover zero corruption in the June 9 bout at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, that saw WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley unwittingly steal Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao’s belt after incompetent judges awarded “Desert Storm” an asinine split decision victory.

“Displeasure with the subjective decisions of sporting officials is not a sufficient basis for this office to initiate a criminal investigation,” Masto wrote in a letter. “There do not appear to be any facts or evidence to indicate that a criminal violation occurred.”

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, the matchmaker for both Bradley (29-0-0-1, 12 KOs) and Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs), sought an inquiry on June 11 to “show the world that there were no improprieties.”

In response to Manny Pacquiao debacle, Senators John McCain and Harry Reid are trying to fight boxing corruption

Boxing is a rogue and suspect sport.

In response to Timothy Bradley’s suspect split decision victory over Manny Pacquiao on June 9 at the MGM Grand Arena in “Sin City,” Arizona Senator John McCain and Nevada Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Monday introduced legislation that would establish a special boxing commission to lawfully regulate the corrupt world of boxing.

Speaking on the Senate floor, McCain, a “Maverick” Republican who lost the historic 2008 presidential election to Commander in Chief Barack Obama, noted that prizefighting is the only sport in the United States that is utterly rogue.

“Clearly, the conspiracy theories and speculation surrounding the fight are given life because there are so many questions surrounding the integrity of the sport and how it is managed in multiple jurisdictions,” said McCain, 75, a Vietnam War hero who boxed while at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, a corruptible weasel who acknowledged during a 2000 federal trial that he bribed the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to attain a higher ranking for one of his pugilists, is the matchmaker for both Bradley (29-0-0-1, 12 KOs) and Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs).

Despite his allegiances, Arum bashed the felonious scoring by a trio of porous judges and reported that Bradley told him, “I tried hard but I couldn’t beat the guy (Pacquiao).”

Timothy Bradley calls Bob Arum ‘a liar’ and says he beat Manny Pacquiao

Considering Bob Arum’s penchant for being a weasel, Timothy Bradley is probably being truthful.

WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley called promoter Bob Arum “a liar” for comments the CEO of Top Rank made after incompetent judges allowed “Desert Storm” to steal Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao’s WBO world welterweight belt by an asinine split decision on June 9 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Arum, a corruptible weasel who acknowledged during a 2000 federal trial that he bribed the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to attain a higher ranking for one of his pugilists, is the matchmaker for both Bradley (29-0-0-1, 12 KOs) and Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs).

Still, Arum bashed the felonious scoring by a trio of porous judges and reported that Bradley told him, “I tried hard but I couldn’t beat the guy (Pacquiao).”

“Desert Storm,” who is presently rated by Ring Magazine as the eighth pound-for-pound prizefighter in the world, harshly criticized Arum for his claim.

“I never told Bob that at all. He’s a liar and I will tell him that to his face,” said Bradley, 28, who suffered a fractured left foot and severely sprained right ankle in the bout. “I told Bob I did the best I can. I got injured. That was it. That’s all I said to Bob. I didn’t say, ‘Bob, I couldn’t beat that guy.’ I would never say that, because I thought I won the fight.”

Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. can’t compete with the indomitable Sergio Martinez.

WBC middleweight titlist Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. successfully defended his belt with an impressive seventh round TKO over Ireland’s top contender Andy Lee last night at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

The prizefight was briefly cancelled on April 26 after Chávez, Jr.’s girlfriend, Frida Muñoz, was linked to fugitive Mexican drug lord Joaquín Guzmán Loera (a.k.a. El Chapo) and law enforcement officials received intelligence that captains for two warring cartels planned on attending the fistfight.

Following some political wrangling, the bout, set to occur just across the border from one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico, Ciudad Juarez, was revived.

The 26-year-old Chavez (46-0-1-1, 32 KOs), whose nickname is “The Legend Goes On” because he is the son of iconic prizefighter Julio Caesar Chavez, made the fourth defense of his crown when referee Laurence Cole halted the beating and saved the 28-year-old Lee (28-2, 20 KOs) from absorbing further punishment.
