A decision has been made. Four Star Warren Township High School (Gurnee, IL) wide receiver Micah Jones committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over the Iowa Hawkeyes, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ole Miss Rebels, his home state Illinois Fighting Illini and the Northwestern Wildcats, Friday, Feb 17 at 3 pm CST/4 pm EST in front of family, friends, coaches and the media who were in attendance for his announcement at Warren Township High.

“This has been a very long process for me. I have been working for this my whole life almost and I’m very happy to see some results. Even though there is more to come for me this is a pivotal moment in my life. This will help shape the rest of my life and I realize this decision is very important,” Jones said. “I just hope at the end of the day I have made my family, close friends, and mentors proud. I’m very happy to officially join a football family.”

With Micah Jones’s commitment, Notre Dame now has their 10th commit of the 2018 recruiting class, second ranked 2018 national recruiting class and number one Independent Conference 2018 recruiting class.

Jones has received a total of 15 scholarship offers. Notre Dame and Head Coach Brian Kelly get the nod for his services. Jones said he knew Notre Dame was the place for him.

“I want to start early that is the goal. I want to get in and be able to be used whether that’s on special teams or regular starting offense. That’s what I work for,” Jones said.

Micah Jones, at six-foot-five, 203 pounds, believes he can bring length and a big body to the field.

“That will allow me to get open in the middle and down the field,” he said.

As far as how plans to make the most of his first season at Notre Dame he had this to say.

“Work hard and never stop competing. That is on the field and in the classroom. That is what I hope I bring to the university.”

Based on his junior highlights which can be seen here,  Micah Jones is clearly a threat on the outside and across the middle because of his size. What is more important as a wide receiver for him is that he is not afraid to get physical and block in the running game.

In 2016, he recorded 22 catches, 232 yards (10.5 yards per catch) and two touchdowns. The Warren Township High School Blue Devils finished 2016  with a 4-5 overall record and 4-3 in the North Suburban Eight Conference.
