The New York Jets had little, if anything, to be happy about regarding this Sunday’s horrendous loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Furthermore, it’s hard imagining that anyone is feeling worse than Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick after he threw 6 interceptions in the deflating 24-3 loss.

After playing one of the best games of his NFL career in Week 2, Fitzpatrick turned in one of his worst performances in Week 3, setting a career high for interceptions. Fitzpatrick signed a one-year, $12 million contract , turning down multi-year offers to bet on himself this season.

“It was so bad, and there were so many poor things on my part that happened in the game that you want to put it behind you as fast as you can,” Fitzpatrick said

After the Jets loss, head coach Todd Bowles delivered a speech to the team that resonated with the players.

“We talked about accountability and just understanding where we are in the season, who we are and what we need to be,” Bowles said, adding that he’s confident the team “got the message.”

“I think the way he delivered the message today was great,” Fitzpatrick said.

“I wouldn’t call it fiery. It was very direct. He’s not a yeller type of coach. It was a good message, though” tackle Ryan Clady added.

While Bowles speech is worthy of headlines it remains to be seen if it will translate to a better on-field performance for the Jets.
