Pregame Notes: Rivera, Swisher, Nunez, Logan

Mariano Rivera 2

A lot of emotions went from disappoitned to excited when Mariano Rivera revealed that he wasn’t going to retire after the ACL injury.

“I’m coming back. Write this down in big letters–I’m not going down like this.” Rivera said during a press conference. “I love to play the game. To me, going out like this isn’t the right way.”

But beware Yankees fans. Mo said that he will continue to shag fly balls even after he comes back. Gotta love Mo.

Other notes: Nick Swisher took batting practice prior to today’s game. He was watched by Joe Girardi, Kevin Long and trainer Steve Donahue. Swisher is still not to come back until next week. On May 1st, Eduardo Nunez was hit with a 2 base error. Joe Torre revoked the error from Nunez, gave Nick Johnson of the Baltimore Orioles a double and charged 2 runs to Boone Logan . The Yankees called up Dewayne Wise & Cody Eppley just prior to today’s game. Eppley will provide depth in the bullpen and Wise will be a bench OF while Brett Gardner & Nick Swisher¬†recuperate.
