Cricket Round Up

India vs. Zimbabwe 2nd ODI

India vs. Zimbabwe the 2nd ODI came around really quickly. India had already won the 1st ODI by 9 wickets. So they were going to take this dominant form going into the 2nd ODI it goes without saying. Zimbabwe were batting first in the 2nd ODI, and they were off to a shambolic start their openers were back in the pavilion before it feels like the match had even begun. The fight that Zimbabwe normally show was missing from these two matches.

In the 2nd ODI it was missing more, as they had to set a competitive total but they were really lacking in their batting. The wickets were dropping one by one, and the Zimbabwe were struggling under the pressure big time. The one person who did show fight was Raza, he was the lone fighter in this innings for Zimbabwe. Raza was definitely trying to get Zimbabwe to a respectable total, but he was losing batting partners and he did well to score a half century so kudos to Raza who definitely saved his team, as without his half century Zimbabwe would have been a lot worse off. Zimbabwe managed to scramble to 126 runs.

India had to get to 127 runs to win this match, and Zimbabwe had to put on an extraordinary bowling performance to root out India and secure victory, but going by India’s dominant performance in the previous match this was highly unlikely but nonetheless Zimbabwe were definitely giving it their all. As predicted India cruised to victory with not much problem at all and they have secured the ODI series with the 3rd ODI being a dead rubber match.

England vs. Sri Lanka 3rd Test Match

This was the final test match in the series and this was the match where Sri Lanka showed grit and determination. England were performing well as they have done throughout the series their dominant performance continued in their first innings they racked up 416 runs with Cook and Bairstow being the stand out batsman for England and it was a fine display of batting by England

Sri Lanka did a decent job with the bat they were routed out for 288 runs in their first innings but definitely showed improvement from the previous Test matches. Herath was their standout bowler when they were bowling against England he did a really good job, once again England were batting and adding to their runs tally.

Sri Lanka were batting again but this Test match ended up being a draw and England had won the series. Now the ODI series is coming up next and that will be another good contest to watch.

West Indies vs. Australia Tri Series

This tri-series has been an interesting one now the 5th match was being played, with Australia batting first Khawaja was on fire his 98 runs was elegantly played he just missed out on a century which would have been well deserved. Smith and Bailey contributed with the bat and helped Australia get to 265 runs. Australia did well batting first as their batsman put on a good show. Now though it was the West Indies time to bat and with them you know to expect fireworks.

The top five order in the West Indian batting line-up did the job for them, they came in and contributed runs. The main man was Marlon Samuels he smashed it once again his 92 runs were the pivotal turning point for West Indies in this hard fought game. West Indies won the match and they definitely deserved the victory as Marlon Samuels definitely enjoyed himself out there in the middle.
