Gary Splash Play the Albany Legends for International Division Lead

3 Min Read

The Albany Legends open a 3 game series with the Gary Splash tonight at 7pm from Christian Brothers Academy in Colonie, NY.

Albany, NY – It’s early in the IBL season but there is no reason not to put some added emphasis on this weekend’s battle between the Gary Splash and the Albany Legends. Both teams are currently in a three way tie atop the International Division along with the Kankakee Soldiers.

While both the Legends and the Splash both are vying for the Division lead they have something else in common as well. Both have faced the Kankakee Soldiers already in this young season.

Two weeks ago the Legends took 2 out of 3 of their series with the Soldiers (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) while on April 26th the Soldiers defeated the Splash 81-70 in a surprisingly low scoring affair.

The Soldiers boast a 4-2 record with both losses coming at the hand of the Albany Legends.

The Soldiers don’t take the court again until May 5th when they host the Gary Splash making this weekends Legends/Splash series all the more intriguing. The potential ripple effects from this weekends results could heavily impact the outcome of all three teams seasons.

The Gary Splash are led by guard TJ Jackson and  6’7 forward Andrew James Zimmer.

They also pose a matchup problem in the paint with 6’10 forward BJ Walker. Both Zimmer and Walker have the potential to cause some headaches for Legends’ big men DeAndre Thomas and Scott McCrae.

The Legends were recently sparked by the return of Llyod Clinton and the stellar defense of Llyod Johnson who had multiple steals to take the final home game against the Soldiers. It will be interesting to see how the 5’10 Johnson handles the Splash’s 6’4 guard TJ Jackson when they are matched up.

The Legends are scoring an impressive 117.6 points per game while the Splash are posting 106.6 points per game.

Can the Legends maintain their high octane offense? Or will the Gary Splash find low post dominance to slow the pace and scoring that the Legends use as an advantage.

Find out tonight at CBA in Colonie. Game starts at 7pm.
