Albany, NY – Although there were far less fancy plays and very little dunking in comparison to Friday, the Legends still routed the Lake County All-Stars. Albany opened the game with a 39 point quarter and did not score less than 28 points in the following three quarters en route to their 11th win of the season.

Emanuel Mayben returned to the Legends’ lineup after serving a one game suspension to lead the Legends with 21 points. Damone Morris continued his strong play in this series by posting 18 points and Lloyd Johnson scored 13. Every player on the Albany roster scored at least 8 points.

Lake County came out with a stronger, more organized approach but was unable to put any strong runs together. Isaac Long led the All-Star attack with 22 points and Jarrell Pennyman chipped in 15 as Lake County failed to notch their first win of the IBL season.

Morris followed up his strong performance in Friday’s win and looks to be in top form for the Legends’ pending road trip. “Today was a team effort. We came out here and executed our game plan. We didn’t want the competition to beat us so we made sure we played together” Morris said.

As I reported yesterday, Albany coach Ben Smith wanted to utilize this weekends series to work on Albany’s zone defense. Morris agreed that it was certainly in the game plan saying “We just came out and wanted to work on everything. Working on the press was definitely important in tightening up our defense in time for the playoffs.”

Albany wraps up the home portion of it’s schedule Sunday at 6pm at CBA. They will be looking for their 12th win of the season and 3rd in a row.
