Borderlands fans will have a lot to look forward to this year.
Recently some details leaked concerning what fans should expect from TellTale Games’ Tales from The Borderlands. Here are some details on the storyline and concept
The game’s storyline will be told from two perspectives; Fiona the con artist and Reece a Hyperion worker. The story will shift between the two of them at predetermined moments throughout the game which will show the same events from each character’s perspective.
From the very start of the story you are forced to make decisions that effect the outcome of the game. As you start you encounter a very sick man next to an open briefcase of money forcing you to decide to either take the money or help the sick man. From all the details given it seems the game is centered on greed and loot with aggressive temptation siding on greed.
“What we’re trying to do is use money in the game as agency,” co-creator Harrison Pink told the magazine. For example, if you choose not to take the cash in the opening scenario, it could mean your choices in a conversation later on may be limited due to your lack of funds. A particular dialogue option may simply be grayed out.
“It’s like playing a board game and somebody takes a bunch of cards out of your hand,” explained Pink.
Telltale Games’ Tales from the Borderlands may not feature the same sort of first-person shooter gameplay we’re used to from prior Borderlands’ games. While no gameplay information has been leaked it’s expected to follow the same gameplay style of TellTale Games titles. Tales from the Borderlands will be released in an episodic manner
During a panel at SXSW panel TellTale Games co-founder Kevin Bruner said “”You never really play what actually happened, you’re playing this Big Fish version of what happened. It’s a Borderlands game, there has to be crazy stuff going on,”.
Tales from the Borderlands is expected to arrive some time in late 2014
