Saints’ Roman Harper Can’t Wait To Trash Talk Carolina Panthers

2 Min Read

We may be in the midst of the dog days of summer but the NFL news cycle is still spinning. This time there is a little trash talking involved.

After spending the past 2 seasons with the Carolina Panthers, 33-year old veteran and 2-time Pro Bowl safety Roman Harper returned the New Orleans Saints, where he had spent the first 8 years of his NFL career.

It’s safe to say that Harper has his former team, the Panthers, circled on his calendar for the upcoming season.

“I can’t wait to go against these guys,” Harper told WCNC in Charlotte. “You know the trash talk is going to be at an all-time high. And may the best team win. It’s going to all be in great fun and competition and that’s what we do…

“The trash talk has already started,” Harper said. “It’s never really a dull day. We all still talk. I’m so glad I got to meet those guys. We’re a tight-knight group.”

Harper’s proclamation doesn’t stem from bad blood as he and the Panthers parted ways on good terms. Harper is probably just showing his competitive fire and demonstrating a chip on his shoulder that has likely contributed to his NFL longevity.

Nevertheless it will be interesting to see Harper square off against his former teammates, especially now that the matchup has been ramped up by a little trash talk.

Game on.
