Boxer Yahu “Rock” Blackwell Helping To Build Orphanage In Africa

3 Min Read
With summer break winding down just as the month of August is, many children are returning to school. Sadly, many children around the world may want the opportunity to go to school but simply cannot.

These children can’t go to school because there are no schools available to go to or because the schools they might attend are in horrible conditions.

To help some of those children, Yahu “Rock” Blackwell has donated $65,000 to help build a new orphanage in Cameroon, Africa forming a strong partnership with the organization known as the “My Sister Cares Foundation.”

“Greatness isn’t measured by win’s and loses, or how much money is in your bank account. Greatness is measured upon honoring Yahuah and how many lives you’ve changed”
says Blackwell when asked about his new venture.
The WBU and IBU ranked boxing champion has become the face of Cameroon, Africa’s ‘My Sister Cares Foundation’, a non-profit that is dedicated to giving food, shelter and clothing to orphans in Africa.
‘The My Sister Cares Foundation’ wants to offer a second chance to orphans by building a safe environment that they can call home. Their first orphanage will be built in the South West region of Cameroon, in a small city called Muea.
Yahu not only committed to donating funds to help buy food, oil, school supplies, and computers for the My Sister Cares Foundation’s orphanage, Blackwell will also be traveling to Cameroon in the summer of 2017 to meet with government officials to discuss community building strategies.
“I’m far from perfect, but my goal is to be a light to the world. It is the duty of the Hebraic people” Blackwell said.
Yahu will head to the capitol of Cameroon and there he will teach the children of the orphanage boxing, health and nutrition, and give out autographed boxing gloves. Blackwell, whose deep Hebraic heritage is connected to Nigerian and Bantu bloodlines, understands and maintains a deep connection with his community and is working hard at improving the conditions in which they live in.
Blackwell believes that helping the people of Cameroon is part of his destiny, one that extends far beyond the boxing ring.
Yahu’s return to ABC was postponed from August 20th, 2016 due contractual technicalities. The new fight date is September 24th. Make sure you check out the latest sports talk podcasts to get the latest news.
