76ers Nerlens Noel Frustrated By Team For Carrying 3 Centers

Philadelphia 76ers center Nerlens Noel is frustrated with the team’s strategy and disappointed with their approach to the offseason. Noel is not shy about letting his frustrations and opinions be heard  telling The Philadelphia Inquirer that changes need to be made.

“I think it’s just silly … this situation that we are in now with three starting centers,” Noel said Sunday. “With the departure of [former general manager and president] Sam Hinkie, I would have figured that management would be able to get something done this summer.”

As of right now Noel will enter the season battling for playing time at the 5 spot with Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid with Embiid viewed as the front-runner for the starting center spot this season.

“Don’t get me wrong. We all get along great on the court and off the court,” Noel said. “But at the end of the day, it’s like having three starting quarterbacks. It doesn’t make any sense.”

While Noel stopped short of demanding a trade or acting as a spokesman for the collective feelings of the team, Noel did stress that a change needed to be made.

“I think at the end of the day, again, you have three starting-caliber centers. And it’s just not going to work to anybody’s advantage having that on the same team,” Noel said. “That’s how I’m looking at it. I’m not opposed to anything, but things need to be situated.”

The Sixers declined to comment on the situation to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
