Bills’ Rex Ryan: ‘If Belichick’s playing QB, we’re coming after him’

2 Min Read

Leave it to Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan to give you the soundbyte of the week.

It’s not 100% clear who will be behind center for the New England Patriots when they square off against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday at Gillette Stadium but Buffalo Bills’ head coach Rex Ryan vows to be prepared for whomever the Patriots have lining up under center.

“I can sit back and say I don’t care who plays quarterback, because [Tom] Brady ain’t,” Ryan said on Sunday. “I don’t care who plays quarterback. Steve Grogan can play quarterback. If [Bill] Belichick’s playing quarterback, we’re coming after him, I promise you that.”

With injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) and Jacoby Brissett (thumb) the Patriots have not yet decided who will start at quarterback. New England does not have any other quarterback aside from the suspended Tom Brady on their active roster.

Speaking of his own quarterback, Tayrod Taylor, who is a running quarterback, Ryan compared him to New England wide receiver Julian Edelman.

“I know how difficult it is to defend against a running quarterback,” Ryan said. “That’s what we have to be ready [for] in case Edelman quarterbacks, right? I have a funny feeling he isn’t going to be Brady back there.”

The Bills and Patriots will square off Sunday.
