The New York Giants In Turmoil After Third Straight Loss

5 Min Read

The New York Giants season is in turmoil right now, and they need to figure out a way to win. The way they have been playing in the past 3 games is not going to help them especially in the tough division they play in. On paper this Giants offense looks like it can be great, but on the field it is a different story.

Injuries are part of the game and part of the season for every team and they seem to be affecting the Giants more so than other teams. Rashad Jennings absence on the field has been a big reason the Giants have not been playing well.

The offense woes for the Giants all start with the quarterback Eli Manning. Manning has not been playing his best football in the past 3 losses, and that needs to change. The offensive play calling has not been good for the Giants, although their once offensive coordinator is now their head coach.

Manning has been put in bad situations on third downs and his offensive line cannot give him time in the pocket to make a play. The Giants also need to get better on third downs because their defense is on the field for most of the game, and they get tired and allow their opponents to score.

The Giants defense would be doing better if the offense could keep the ball for a long drive down the field. The Giants spent over $200 million during the offseason to acquire players that are helping their defense. The players have been doing their jobs, but they are having trouble being on the field for the most of the game.

Janoris Jenkins, Olivier Vernon, and Damon Harrison are great players that cost big money, but they need help from the offense in order to shine on defense. Manning needs to step up and start making plays with his high powered offense and the Giants will see a change.

The Giants played poorly against the Green Bay Packers last night at Lambeau Field leading to a 23-16 loss. The defense could not get any pressure on Aaron Rodgers and he had plenty of time to make plays from the pocket. When he had to get out of the pocket and do it with his feet, Rodgers rushed 11 yards for a first down.

Plays like that are what kept the Giants defense on the field for so long. Rodgers would also use his hard hike count trying to get the Giants to hop off sides. After the Giants defense got one off sides penalty from that hard count they would not do that again.

Rodgers would hit his receivers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb for big yardage plays during that game, and Nelson would go on to score a touchdown. On the other side of the ball the Giants offense struggled and had trouble scoring touchdowns.

The Giants would settle for field goals on 3 drives that got them in or near the red zone. The one touchdown came from a pass from Manning to Odell Beckham Jr. that was under review for an extended time, but could not be overturned due to a lack of clear video evidence.

Eli and Beckham Jr. were the focus of the offense last night and that is why the Giants could not come away with a win. The Giants have a tough game against the Baltimore Ravens next week and they need to make plays and use their entire offense in order to get back to .500.
