We finally saw Alshon Jeffery get into the endzone on Monday night against the Vikings & if you own him you have to be excited with Jay Cutler being back. Jeffery is going to have more favorable matchups going forward & if you read my last buy low/sell high article & you bought low on Alshon, congratulations you may be getting the guy that was drafted as a WR1 in most fantasy drafts. If you still have a chance to get Alshon for cheap go do it! Here are some guys I’d think about buying low on or selling high on this week.
Buy Low:
Corey Coleman (WR, Browns): Coleman still hasn’t officially returned from his hand injury that he suffered after Week 2 but it seems he may be back in Week 9 against the Cowboys. Coleman in the 2 weeks he played in had 7 receptions for 173 yards & 2 touchdowns with 5 of those receptions, 104 of those yards & both touchdowns coming in Week 2 against the Ravens. Now is the time to buy low on him as he has not returned from injury but when he does the Browns may have another big play WR for Josh McCown to throw to besides Terrelle Pryor. You also may be able to pick Coleman up in free agency in some leagues as he is owned in only 33.5% of ESPN leagues as I’m writing this.
Mark Ingram (RB, Saints): Ingram has had a rough couple weeks fumbling the ball & on Sunday against the Seahawks he fumbled early & was sat on the bench the rest of the game & totaled -2 fantasy points on the day while he watched his backup Tim Hightower rush for 102 yards & be denied 5 times at the goal line. I still believe in Ingram remaining the starter & he could have a nice bounce back week against a struggling 49ers run defense. The 49ers have allowed the most rushing yards to opposing RBs (1,137) & the 2nd most touchdowns (10). Most Ingram owners are frustrated with him so he could be had for a very cheap price in some leagues.
Sell High:
Jordan Matthews (WR, Eagles): Matthews had his 2nd best week in Week 8 scoring 23 fantasy points (in PPR) against the Cowboys. Befor his 23 point performance had 3 straight weeks of not scoring a touchdown & only had 24 total points in those weeks. Matthews may have had a nice game on Sunday night but I don’t think he’s that talented of a WR. He drops passes constantly, runs bad routes, & is inconsistent. You may be able to sell high on him after a good performance so I’d throw him out there & see if anyone bites on him.
Jay Ajayi (RB, Dolphins): Again he makes this list because he had a bye week in Week 8 so he still can be sold at a very high price. Ajayi is still coming off back to back 200 yard games & is now the featured back in Miami. The thing is his schedule isn’t that favorable with him going against 5 teams that have allowed 3.9 yards per carry or less (plays the Jets twice.) Ajayi plays the Jets this week (3.3 YPC), Chargers next week (3.8 YPC), then the Rams (3.9 YPC), then he finally has a favorable matchup against the 40ers in Week 12, Ravens in Week 13 (3.5 YPC), Cardinals in Week 14 (3.9 YPC), Jets again, Bills in Week 16 (4.1 YPC), & Patriots to finish it off (4.1 YPC). I would sell high on Ajayi because he’s not going to rush for 200 yards every week & his value won’t be as high as it is right now.
Kelvin Benjamin (WR, Panthers): Benjamin has not looked fully healthy so far this season. Benjamin hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 4 against the Falcons & only has 1 game where he eclipsed 100 yards & that came in Week 2 against the 49ers. Benjamin is still a good WR & is the best WR on a Carolina Panthers team that is usually playing from behind this season so he can still have good weeks ahead of him. I don’t know if Benjamin fits under the sell high category with how he’s played this year but there could be someone out there that thinks highly of him & would take him because of his name or his talent.
