Jared Goff Set To Start Vs Dolphins – Reports

2 Min Read

Jared Goff is set to start on Sunday vs the Miami Dolphins (5-4), according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN. Goff will get his first minutes of the season under his belt as the in-form Dolphins head to Los Angeles. The Rams (4-5) narrowly defeated the New York Jets last time out.

Following the win against the Jets in New York, Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher is believed to have informed the quarterbacks Tuesday morning that Goff would start on Sunday. The Rams’ offense so far is struggling to get going and star running back Todd Gurley’s stuttering start to the season has become another cause for concern. The 2015 first-round pick is 17th in rushing yards this season, with the Rams failing to have scored a touchdown in three games straight.

It marks something of a turnaround that Fisher is turning to Goff to lead his offense, given that only on Monday he was quoted as saying: “He’s (Goff) number two and a play away from playing,”. Fisher in effect signalling that Goff was ready to be the next man up, but possibly not by choice. Encouragingly enough for Fisher, Goff has indicated that he is ready to start. A report from Pro Football Talk  suggests that Goff has made his feelings clear to Fisher and there is no better time for Goff to prove he is ready for the NFL than by testing himself against a hot Dolphins team.

The Dolphins, fresh off the back of a thrilling late win against the San Diego Chargers, are going to be a particularly stern test for the Rams and Goff. They are on their longest winning streak (4) since 2008, the only season they have made the playoffs for 15 years. The Dolphins have made the West Coast their home for the next week as they tackle back-to-back games in California.
