New York Giants Win Six Straight While Browns Remain Win-Less

4 Min Read

The New York Giants faced off against the Cleveland Browns and both teams needed a win. The Browns were looking for their first win of the season, and they wanted the Giants to be the team that they would shock in route to that win.

The Browns have been playing poorly all season and this game looked like a favorable matchup for the Giants who were on a 5 game winning streak. The Giants are looking to stay close the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East standing so they can have a shot at winning the division. The Giants did gain another win and improve their record to 8-3.

The Giants defense has really helped them over this six game winning streak. The Giants defense spends significantly more time on the field than the offense, and they still get the job done. The Giants do not need a lot of time to score during their drives, and that can help the defense in a big way.

If the Giants score quickly and build a large lead the defense is able work freely and get themselves off the field by forcing 3 and outs. The Giants defense had to play big and they did just that for all 4 quarters of the game.

The scoring in this game came in the second and fourth quarter for both team, and the Giants would make their way to a wire to wire victory. Josh McCown had a hard day under center against the Giants. McCown would throw for 322 yards and a touchdown.

McCown would be sacked 7 times during the game and Giants defense took complete advantage of the poor play from the Browns offensive line. The Giants defense took every opportunity to get pressure on the quarterback and they need to do the same against the teams they have to play on their upcoming schedule.

Eli Manning had a huge game throwing for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns. Manning has been able to get time in the pocket due to the great play of his offensive line, and that had enabled him to make big plays down the field. Odell Beckham Jr. had a big game with 6 receptions for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Beckham Jr. is clearly Manning’s favorite target on offense because he was targeted 11 times during the game. The Giants offense has several play makers on the field at the same time, and that will help them throughout the rest of the season and possibly in the playoffs.

Dwayne Harris also caught a touchdown from Manning during the game. The speedy wide receiver got open and scored a 13 yard touchdown on his only target of the game. The Giants are separating themselves from the bottom 2 teams of the NFC East. On Thanksgiving Day the Washington Redskins lost a big game to the Dallas Cowboys dropping giving the Giants a one game lead in the divisional loss column.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost a game to the Green Bay Packers making them 3 games behind the Giants. The Giants have 5 games remaining in the regular season and 3 of those games will be NFC East opponents. The Giants will have control of their playoff hopes if they win out. The Giants will need all of their players to keep their winning mentality up and show that on the field.
