Miami Heat Weekly Review: Part 4

4 Min Read

The Miami Heat are having a hard time this season finding consistency when it comes to winning. They are playing team basketball, but they have not made the right adjustments in order to win against their tougher opponents. The Heat have a record of 6-12 and they have plenty of time in the first half of the season to work out the issues they currently have.

Poor shooting has hurt the Heat because they are taking low percentage shots. They need to pass the ball more and find shooters under the basket. If the Heat can get up better shots and distribute the ball evenly they will be able to win more games.

Heat-76ers

Miami faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers and lost 101-94. The 76ers are not a one of the better teams in the NBA, but they give every team their best shot and that is exactly what they Heat were not prepared for.

Hassan Whiteside would have another double double with 32 points and 13 rebounds. Poor shooting hurt the Heat and helped the 76ers in this game because the Heat would shoot 38.6% and the 76ers would shoot 47.4%. The Heat bench would also be outscored by the 76ers bench 32-22 and that is a problem the Heat have yet to solve.

Heat-Pistons

In their next game Miami would play against the Detroit Pistons and get blown out in a 107-84 loss. Miami shot 36% from the field and Detroit shot 49.4%. The starters for the Heat did not show up in this game and the only starter in double figures would be Dion Waiters with 11 points.

The Pistons came out swinging and that led to their wire to wire victory. In every quarter the Heat were outscored and could not catch up. Andre Drummond would have a double double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. The Pistons starters played a great game and took control of it early on to get the win.

Heat-Grizzlies

The Heat would play a 2 game set against the Memphis Grizzlies one at the Grizzlies house and a game at home. In the first matchup the Heat would win 90-81. The Heat starters had a big game if it was not on offense it was on defense.

Whiteside would grab 12 total rebounds 8 of which were defensive. Josh Richardson, Rodney McGruder, and Dion Waiters would all score in the double figures. Tyler Johnson had a huge game off the bench scoring 22 points and grabbing  5 rebounds. Both teams shot poorly, but the Heat played a little better in this game to get the win.

Heat-Grizzlies Game 2

In the second game of this regular season series The Grizzlies would come out on top with a 110-107 victory. Starters on both teams were shooting the lights out, and all starters for Miami and Memphis were in double figures. The Heat would have 3 more turnovers in this game than the Grizzlies.

Both teams had great shooting percentages as the Grizzlies would shoot 50.7% and the Heat would shoot 49.4%. This game could have gone either way, but the Heat need to find a way to win close games. The Heat are currently 6 games under .500 and need to climb back to a better winning percentage.
