Buffalo Bills Likely To Keep Tyrod Taylor

3 Min Read

It appears that the Buffalo Bills need to mend fences.

After spending the latter part of the 2016 NFL season to do everything in their power to make it painstakingly obvious that they did not believe in the long-term future of quarterback Tyrod Taylor and that his exodus was on the horizon, the Bills may now have to double back.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that it appears there is a strong chance that the Bills keep Taylor as opposed to releasing him.

What a reverse course. The Bills have gone as far as to bring their apparent “blah” feelings regarding Taylor public by questioning a recent surgical procedure by not hiding the oh-so-obvious fact that they were honed in on the money they would have to obligate to Taylor should he remain on their roster.

Rapoport previously reported that the team and Taylor could re-do his contract in an effort to smooth out some of the salary-cap issues without requiring Taylor to take a pay cut. We will have to track that possible situation as it develops.

Even Bills legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly took public shots at Taylor.

“We do not have (a franchise quarterback) as of right now,” Kelly said on ESPN Wednesday. “Tyrod Taylor, he did a lot of things this year and last year that a lot of quarterbacks in the NFL cannot do. But consistently, he just wasn’t what we needed. He had to be more consistent on his throws. When we needed the first down to move the chains to win games, when we needed the first down to move the chains to continue that control of the ball to take time off the clock, we just didn’t have that there.”

As far as Taylor’s health is concerned, a Bills team source told ESPN that Taylor has been “medically cleared.”

It seems that the organization needs to reverse course and do everything in it’s power to make Taylor, who has maintained his desire to stay in Buffalo, as comfortable and to feel as welcomed as possible.
