According to reports, North Carolina State head coach Mark Gottfried will need a late surge of success to keep his job on the sidelines. Unless the Wolfpack go on a run during the rest of the season and in the ACC tournament Gottfried is expected to be let go at the end of the season.

“He could be gone this week, if they get pounded by North Carolina tomorrow night,” ESPN reported a source saying.

The Wolfpack wenet 16-17 last season and are currently 14-12 and 3-10 in ACC play this season.

Athletic director Debbie Yow is apparently unhappy with the lack of effort with the current team despite the play of Dennis Smith Jr. who is projected to be an NBA lottery pick.

“They have more than enough talent to get to the NCAA tourney,” ESPN quoted one ACC coach saying. “They just don’t play hard at all.”
