It’s still unclear what the Chicago Bears will do with star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who is expected to either hit free agency or be franchise tagged by the Bears. It is likely that Jeffery hits the open market, but there is still a chance that the Bears work to retain him, albeit slim.
According to CBSSports’ Jason La Canfora, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to make a run at the 27-year-old Jeffery but the Eagles are not the only team waiting in the wings.
According to a source, the Los Angeles Rams are closely monitoring the Jeffery situation in Chicago and are prepared to aggressively pursue him should he hit the free agent market. I am also told that the Rams have Jeffery at “the top” of their free agency wishlist.
A Jeffery/Rams marriage makes a lot of sense. Los Angeles could use both Jeffery’s elite skillset and his star power to help ignite the team. The Rams have had a lack of playmakers the past few seasons and it has run down their offensive production.
Los Angeles also wants to give quarterback Jared Goff an elite wideout to lean on to help his development.
So, while Philly may be the “hot talk” right now in regards to Jeffery, don’t sleep on the Los Angeles Rams, who are preparing to make a major push for the star wide receiver.
