Bucs Make Big Offer To Mike Glennon To Be Backup QB, Glennon Wants To Start

1 Min Read

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers want quarterback Mike Glennon to stay in Tampa and offered him a big contract to do just that, but Glennon wants to start.

Tampa Bay reportedly offered Mike Glennon a contract that would make him the highest-paid backup quarterback in the league, according to Bleacher Report and later confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Caplan. The offer was enough to top the deal that the Philadelphia Eagles gave Chase Daniel, which is $7 million per season.

Despite the offer, Glennon, 27, plans to test free agency because he wants the chances to start.

Glennon has been linked to quarterback needy teams such as the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Jets and the Chicago Bears.

Throughout his 3 seasons in Tampa Bay, Glennon has thrown for 4,100 yards, 30 touchdowns, 15 interceptions in 21 games played. Glennon completed 59.4% of his passes and has a 84.6 quarterback rating.
