Add quarterback Colin Kaepernick to the list of players that will hit the free agent market.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Kaepernick’s new agents told all 32 NFL teams on that he will be opting out of his contract with the 49ers. This news comes shortly after Niners general manager John Lynch said that Kaepernick left the team facility “excited” after a conversation that was described as a “positive discussion.”
Rappaport reported in December of 2016 that Kaepernick was likely to void his contract. It was widely expected that he would part ways with the team.
Kaepernick will join a lackluster crop of free agent quarterbacks that currently include names such as Josh McCown, so it is likely that he will draw considerable interest on the market.
A team like the Denver Broncos, who have long had interest in Kaepernick, could come into play, especially if they are unable to land Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
