Miami Heat Look To Punch Ticket To Playoffs

Published

on

The NBA regular season is coming to a close and the Heat are showing why they belong in the playoffs. Miami is doing a great job holding on to a playoff spot, and their schedule has become more favorable as they have kept winning games.

There are only 7 games left for the Heat and they have to keep winning in order to seal their ticket to the playoffs. They are currently in a tie with the Indiana Pacers having the same record.

The Heat could end the season with the 7th or 8th seed. They are 1 ½ games ahead of the 9th seeded Chicago Bulls. The Bulls have a tough game tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers and a loss could help the Heat in a big way.

The Heat had a tough game against the Boston Celtics losing 112-108. The Heat could not handle Isaiah Thomas as he would explode for 30 points.

The Celtics shot 53.2% from the field and the Heat would shoot 45.1% from the field. The Heat did out rebound the Celtics, but they did not move the ball well at all. The Heat only had 19 assists, while the Celtics had 32 in the game.

Hassan Whiteside had a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds. The Heat had plenty of help from their bench. James Johnson and Tyler Johnson would combine for 44 points off the bench in the loss.

The Heat would come back in their next game against the Detroit Pistons and win 97-96. Late game heroics from Whiteside led the Heat to a win. His buzzer-beating tip in allowed him to finish the game with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

Goran Dragic would be the top scorer in this game scoring 28 points. Pistons big man Andre Drummond struggled against the Heat scoring 9 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

This was an important game for the Heat and the Pistons as both teams are still fighting for playoff position. The Heat just took the advantage over them.

In their most recent game the Heat came away with a 105-88 win over the New York Knicks. The Knicks have been struggling throughout the season and have been eliminated from playoff contention.

This game was still a must win for the Heat and they came out and played hard. Dragic would have another big game scoring 20 points grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing out 9 assists.

Whiteside would come just shy of a double-double again scoring 11 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. The Heat needed this win and will be playing the same team again on Friday. The Heat are capable of getting another win against the Knicks in Miami.

The Next two games the Heat will play are games they should win. The first is against the Knicks and the next game is against the Denver Nuggets. Their last 5 games come against eastern conference playoff bound teams.

Those games could also be won if those teams decide to rest their star players before the playoffs start. They will play the Hornets, Raptors, Wizards, Cavaliers, and the Wizards again for their final regular season game. The Heat can punch their ticket to the playoffs in none of their players rest and if Detroit and Chicago continue to lose their final games.

Sports Reporter Suing Kings’ Luke Walton for Sexual Assault Allegations

Published

on

Sacramento Kings new head coach Luke Walton is already in the news, but for all the wrong reasons, and he has hired attorney Mark Baute to defend him against the allegations of sexual battery made by sports reporter Kelly Tennant, who is suing Walton.

According to TMZ Sports, Walton and his legal team are blasting the accuser, and Baute issued the following statement;

“Luke Walton retained me to defend him against these baseless allegations,” Baute said.

“The accuser is an opportunist, not a victim, & her claim is not credible. We intend to prove this in a courtroom.”

According to the suit, Tennant, who worked as a reporter for Spectrum SportsNet and SportsNet LA, claims that while Walton was an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, he asked her to come and meet him at the Casa Del Mar Hotel in Santa Monica, California, to drop off a book she had published.

Tennant says that she asked Walton to write the forward in her book due to a business relationship that the two had had for several years.

Upon arriving at Walton’s hote, he conviced her to come up to his room so that the two could “catch up” and upon arriving in his room Walton pinned her to the bed and placed his hips and legs over her body, forcing kisses on her neck, face, and chest.

Tennant claims that she screamed for him to stop and attempted to break free, but Walton held her down, groped her breasts and groin, and rubbed his erection on her leg.

Tennant claims she was “in shock and fear. She was afraid she was about to be raped,” the suit states.

Additionally, Tennant claims that when Walton finally stopped and released her he escorted her out of the hotel room as if nothing ever happened and she claims that “He smiled, laughed again and made the disturbing statement, ‘Good to see you,'”

The disturbing behavior allegedly continued while Walton was the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers back in May 2017, and Tennant claims that Walton once greeted her by uttering “vulgar, guttural sounds at her” and said, “mmmm … you’re killing me in that dress.”

The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Sacramento Kings all stated that they had no knowledge of the alleged incident during Walton’s tenure.

NBA 2K League Announces Livestreaming Partnership with Twitch

Published

on

Last week, the NBA 2K League officially announced a partnership with Twitch that makes the popular streaming platform the exclusive broadcaster for all league games.

Twitch now will be listed as the official livestreaming partner of the NBA 2K League, as well as one of the league’s founding partners, via the new deal.

Earlier in April, the NBA 2K League broadcasted it’s inaugural draft live on Twitch streams, an indicator that the two sides were working towards a more permanent working relationship.

The multi-year partnership deal includes all 199 potential games in the NBA 2K League season and the format includes weekly head to head matches, 3 regular season tournaments, a playoff bracket, and the finals.

Additionally, Twitch will assist in developing interactive custom overlays for use in the NBA 2K League broadcast, including other fan engagement initiatives and projects.

“This is a groundbreaking partnership for the NBA 2K League” NBA 2K League managing director Brendan Donohue said.

“Twitch shares our innovative spirit and commitment to putting the gaming community first, and is the ideal home to provide our passionate 2K, NBA, and esports fans around the world with the opportunity to catch all the excitement of our inaugural season.”

Twith has been in the business of partnerships such as these, as they reportedly paid $90 million for the exclusive broadcast rights to the Overwatch League back in January of this year.

It’s another big “get” for Twitch and will bring even more attention to the millions of Twitch channels on the growing platform, particularly in their Twitch sports section.

It also continues their separation from competitors such as Mixer streams, YouTube gaming, Facebook gaming, Caffeine Streams, and DLive streams, which is being aggressive to become more competitive in the streaming industry.
