Adrian Peterson To Sign With New Orleans Saints

2 Min Read

Former Minnesota Vikings running back and future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson certainly didn’t anticipate the free agency market playing out the way it has.

It’s safe to assume that not many of us did. But Peterson, who was thought to be in line for multiple suitors and a massive pay day as soon as free agency opened, hasn’t been the hot commodity his resume would indicate he would be.

Despite the long-standing reluctancy to fork over a big contract to the oft-injured, aged veteran it appears Peterson has finally found a new home.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Peterson is expected to sign with the New Orleans Saints for around $3 million in 2017.

That’s a far cry from the salary projections and expectations that many analysts, myself included, initially had.

However, Peterson brings a power back to an explosive Saints offense and can form quite the formidable tandem with New Orleans’ running back Mark Ingram.

Saints fans should be fired up as their backfield just got one major boost.

If Peterson,32, can stay healthy, he may be able to showcase the form and ability that has made him a household name and a surefire Hall of Famer.

In the scenario that Peterson is on a steady decline, the Saints don’t have much money invested in him and can cut ties should they need to.

Just in case you’re wondering, the Saints and Vikings play on Monday Night Football during Week 1 at Minnesota.

Is it time for football yet?
