IPL 2017 Round Up

5 Min Read

IPL 2017 has kicked off it has been an action packed few days, for all the IPL teams as all the games have been brilliant. They have been keeping all the fans glued to their screens.

So far 8 matches have been played, and it all kicked off in Hyderabad, with the defending champions Sunrisers playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was a scintillating start to the tournament which saw Sunrisers win by 35 runs, and it was definitely a dominating start by the champions of the IPL. Royal Challengers didn’t get the dream start they wanted but it is still early days in this tournament.

The second match was played between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant, Mumbai Indians played a fine innings and set up a score of 184 runs, but the Rising Pune Supergiant skipper Smith played a superb innings alongside Rahane who hit a solid 60 runs, to give his team the platform needed to allow them to chase down this mammoth total. Smith was definitely very happy with this victory in the first match,

Leading onto the third match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Lions, this was a match to behold. The Gujarat Lions had scored 183 runs but the Kolkata Knight Riders chased down this total in no time they didn’t lose any wickets. Gambhir and Lynn just hit the ball all around the park and really took the game away from the Gujarat Lions who ended up on the losing side in the end.

We had the Rising Pune Supergiant back in action already and having already won their first match, they were definitely in the positive mind-set to win their second match but Kings XI Punjab had other plans. Kings XI Punjab definitely spoilt the party for the Rising Pune Supergiant and beat them by 6 wickets with 6 balls remaining a close match nonetheless but it was Kings XI Punjab who were celebrating that night.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Delhi Daredevils, this match was an interesting low scoring game, but in the end Delhi Daredevils didn’t get across the line and lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 15 runs. Delhi Daredevils had lost too many wickets to salvage the match in the end and to make a game of it.

Sunrisers vs. Gujarat Lions two teams with different fates going on at the moment Sunrisers had won their first match. Gujarat Lions had lost their first match, so a tale of two different teams. Sunrisers proved to be a powerhouse for Gujarat Lions and they were once again on the losing side. As this was a low scoring game, the Sunrisers chased down the score with ease and won the game by 9 wickets.

Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders were back in action as well and these two teams are veterans of the IPL. This match was one of the closest matches in this IPL thus far because Mumbai Indians secured victory with 1 ball to spare. KKR scored 178 runs and Mumbai Indians chased down that score just in the nick of time, the frustration that Kolkata Knight Riders would have been feeling would have been felt deeply by their fans.

Kings XI Punjab vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore, turned out to be another low scoring match, it seems to be that low scoring games might be quite frequent in this edition of the IPL. Again another tightly fought game, AB De Villiers one man show to get Royal Challengers Bangalore to decent score couldn’t stop Kings XI Punjab from chasing down this score done aptly by Amla, Maxwell and Vohra.
