Kevin Durant Wants To Stay With Golden State Warriors

2 Min Read

If things go the way that Kevin Durant would like them to, then the superstar forward won’t be testing the free agency this summer.

“I haven’t even thought about it that much, but I don’t plan on going anywhere else,” Durant said in a discussion with Warriors Plus/Minus with Marcus Thompson and Tim Kawakami (h/t Bleacher Report).

Last July, Durant shocked the basketball world by leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Golden State Warriors, signing a 2-year deal with player option for the 2017-18 season.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the cap is projected to be around $101 million next year which would mean that Durant could land more money by hitting the free agency market to attract more offers.

The Warriors need to factor in re-signing both Durant and Steph Curry but it may come at the cost of other players. Golden State also has to decide if they want to spend the money necessary to retain players such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.

Keeping all would likely force the Warriors to pay a luxury tax.

Obviously you want to keep this group together, you want to see how far we can go,”Durant said. “I’m sure once the season is over with we can figure out that stuff, everybody, and I’m sure it will all work out for the best.”

Durant also talked about how much he has loved playing for the Warriors fans.

“It’s been great,” Durant explained. “You get love everywhere you go.”
