The New York Yankees have acquired Sonny Gray from the Oakland Athletics according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. The team acquired Sonny Gray from the A’s an hour before the trade deadline, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed.

Gray is 44-36 with a 3.42 ERA over parts of five seasons in Oakland

Gray, 27, has gone 6-5 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.18 WHIP so far this season. Gray is 44-36 with a 3.42 ERA over parts of five seasons in Oakland

He joins a Yankees pitching rotation in need of a front-line starter and compliments a deep and revamped bullpen headlined by David Robertson, Aroldis Chapman, Dellin Betances, Tommy Kahnle and Adam Warren.

Oakland will receiver Dustin Fowler, Jorge Mateo and James Kaprielian in return. Both Fowler (ruptured the patellar tendon) and Kaprielian (Tommy John) are injured so the Athletics are taking some risk in this deal.

Gray is under club control through the 2019 season. He is making $3.6 million this season and is arbitration eligible in 2018.
