What a crazy few weeks with the Jacksonville Jaguars and their retired/un-retired offensive tackle Branden Albert.
Albert, who retired recently, is apparently no longer retired and met with the Jaguars over the weekend to discuss a return, according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Albert, who came over in a trade with the Miami Dolphins for a 2018 seventh-round pick, is due a base salary of $8.875 million this season.
And while it would seem that the Jags would be excited to hear the news that their All-Pro tackle had a change of heart, it doesn’t appear as though the organization is welcoming him back with open arms.
According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco who cited a league source, the Jaguars “are unlikely to allow him to do so.”
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the team will place Albert on the reserve/retired list.
What an odd situation that is playing out in Jacksonville.
