Bucks’ Guard Rashad Vaughn Talks Upcoming Season, CrossFit Games, Diet

3 Min Read

The Milwaukee Bucks have an opportunity to make some noise in a weakened Eastern Conference this upcoming season.

With teams like the Indiana Pacers losing key players and teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers in a bit of inner-turmoil, an up and coming team like the Bucks could seize the opportunity to land among the elites of the Eastern Conference.

“We have our core back together so that is really exciting” Bucks guard Rashad Vaughn told me.

“A lot of people are going to have their eyes on us and I think we can really make some noise in the East.

Anyone can win on any night. We have a strong team that will go out and compete to win, no matter what team is on the other bench.”

One Eastern Conference team that made drastic improvements was the Boston Celtics who had a solid draft by adding Jayson Tatum and landed Gordon Heyward in free agency.

Despite the Celtic’s upgrades, Vaughn keeps the emphasis on Milwaukee.

“We already had a really strong roster so for us, getting the core back playing together and starting to re-establish our chemistry has been key” he said.

Part of improving is the offseason training a particular player can undergo, and Vaughn has been relentless this offseason undertaking a diet change and amping up his dedication to CrossFit.

CrossFit really struck a cord with Vaughn.

“This event with Zevia was my first time trying it out” Vaughn explained.

“There are definitely some things I could incorporate in to my workouts – a lot of the upper body exercises could help me get stronger and improve my shooting.”

Vaughn also altered his diet by focusing on cutting back on his sugar intake.

“I always make sure the offseason equals improvement” Vaughn said.

“My training is at its most intense so it is more important that I fuel my body the right way. I cut soda and candy out and it has given me more energy, I recover faster and sleep better.”

Vaughn, 20, spent his 1st two NBA seasons with the Bucks, finished the 2016-2017 season posting 3.5 points per game and 1.2 rebounds a game.
