Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas Expects To Be Ready For Training Camp

1 Min Read

The Boston Celtics had a big offseason. The scored big with the signing of Gordon Heyward in free agency and in the draft with the selection of Jayson Tatum.

Now a bit of good fortune has struck again in regards to superstar Isaiah Thomas.

Last week it was reported that Thomas would not need hip surgery, a strong indicator that Thomas was on his way back to the team.

But even more good news came on Saturday when, during  his annual basketball clinic at Boston University, Thomas told Celtics fans that he will be ready for camp.

“I should be ready by camp, but I’m getting back in the gym shooting and being able to work out in the weight room and get my cardio back because I’ve been down for two and a half months since the season ended,” Thomas said, via Stephen Hewitt of the Boston Herald .

“It’s getting there though. This week has been great progress for me.”

Thomas’ hip injury, that occurred during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, abruptly ended his season in the playoffs.

Last season Thomas was at his best averaging 28.9 points on 46.3 percent shooting from the field while dishing out 5.9 assists per game.
