While the Boston Red Sox were busy completing a four-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon, there was a special guest in attendance.
That guest? None other than acclaimed Hollywood actor/producer Matt Damon.
It’s no secret that Damon—who was born right outside of Boston in Cambridge—is a huge Red Sox fan.
Damon, 46, took in the ballgame with front row seats directly next to Boston’s home dugout. He even posed for a photo with notable look-a-like and Red Sox utility infielder Brock Holt.
During the top and bottom halves of the fourth inning, Damon made his presence felt in the Red Sox broadcast booth to chat with Dave O’Brien and Dennis Eckersley. He mentioned that Sunday was the first Red Sox game he’s attended on the season—but has still been heavily following the team, watching “a bunch” of games with his dad.
Perhaps Damon’s most memorable commentary was the story he shared of him and his dad once enjoying a Fenway Frank with Red Sox/MLB legend Ted Williams, who passed away in 2002.
“He could’ve punched us in the face though and we probably would’ve said he’s great,” said Damon in reference to Williams. The respect!

Boston’s 6-3 victory over the White Sox on Sunday was their sixth straight win, matching their longest such streak of the season.
