Week 2 is among us and it is time to take our stab at this weeks games. Again this is for entertainment purposes and very little research goes into our picks. We tend to rely on our gut for our picks so without any further ado let’s take a look at how we did in week 1.
Hits: Bills over the Jets, Giants over Cowboys.
Misses: Chiefs over Pats, Falcons over Chicago (Falcons didn’t cover).
The Bucs and Dolphins game wasn’t played so we’ll revisit that game in week 11. So for those keeping track at home we went 2-2 in week 1. We broke even so lets take a stab at 5 games for week 2.
Eagles @ Chiefs (spread: Chiefs -4.5)
Carson Wentz and the Eagles looked like gang beaters against the Washington football team last week. We still don’t know if that is a reflection of the Eagles being really good or the other team being really bad. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. I went against the Chiefs last week on the road so I’m gonna roll with them this week as they return home. Hopefully Hunt goes off again and they handle business. Our pick: Chiefs win and cover
Bears @ Buccaneers (spread: Bucs -7)
This is the first game for the Buccaneers and they will be chopping at the bit after sitting out week 1. The Bears had a less than stellar showing in week 1 and still had a chance to win the game but came up short. All things equal I’ll give the advantage to the home team. It’s time for Winston to step and move to that next level, he will have his change in his home debut this weekend. Our pick: Bucs win
Bills @ Panthers (spread: Panthers -7)
The Panthers had a solid win last week as the Bills come to town. We love Tyrod Taylor and Shady McCoy but that Bills team lacks enough playmakers. The Bills beat the Jets last week but the Jets might be the worst team in the NFL. We’ll ride with Cam as the Panthers return to their home field this week. Our pick: Panthers win and cover.
Jets @ Raiders (spread: Raiders -14)
For those who know me, you understand that I am a big sucker for big numbers against the spread. This weeks upset special I am rolling with the Jets to keep it under 14 points. The Jets are a terrible terrible football team. I hate going against Vegas but I’m rolling the dice on the J-e-t-s. They won’t win but I just need them to not get blown out. Our pick: Jets lose but keep it within 14.
Packers @ Falcons (spread: Falcons -2.5)
The Falcons are a really good football team who is tough to beat at home. That is the basis for me picking the Falcons. I think these teams are really close in talent but the Falcons will be hype for opening their new stadium. Aaron Rodgers is a wildcard that you can never count out. We’ll play it safe and stick with the home team on this one. Our pick: Falcons win by 3
Bills’ Fan Says Dolphins’ Bobby McCain Spit in His Face, Threatened to Spit on 13-Year Old
A fan of the Buffalo Bills is claiming that Miami Dolphins’ veteran cornerback Bobby McCain spit in his face and threatened to spit in the face of a 13-year old fan sitting behind him.
The fan, Dylan Wentland, has been a season ticket holder for 15-years and says that McCain threatened to spit on the young fan after the teenager yelled “You’re irrelevant” to McCain during warmups.
“He’s the nicest kid in the world. He’s sat behind us for years with his dad” Wentland said, according to the Buffalo News. He was just having a good time, “I go, ‘Dude, what’s wrong with you? What kind of role model are you for the kid?’ “
Wentland said he didn’t interact with McCain anymore during the game, but when the game ended and players left the field, McCain sought him out.
“I haven’t even said a word to him. He runs right up to me and spits in my face and then runs down the tunnel,” Wentland said. “I mean literally wound up, hocked and just spit right in my face while I’m standing there.”
The boy’s father, Scott Hammond says McCain had “faked spitting” on the boy “five or six times”, adding that he made the noise but nothing came out.
The video below shows Wentland calling McCain a “bad role model”.
Wentland says McCain sought him out after the game and spit in his face.
Dolphins’ head coach Brian Flores addressed the issue, stating that McCain will face discipline from the team “internally”.
“I heard [McCain’s] side of the story and it’s unfortunate” Flores said, according to the Miami Herald.
“I feel like he needed to handle that situation better. We’re going to discipline Bobby for that. We’ll handle that discipline internally, but situations like this — we’ve got to handle those situations and I would say, before I say that, we take those very seriously. There’s a standard that we’re trying to set here of professionalism, of the way we go about things.
We need to live up to that standard and we’re going to, so I talked to Bobby and, again, I heard his side of the story, but we need to handle situations better really on the field.”
McCain later issued a statement expressing his regret over the situation.
After 42 Years The Buffalo Bills Are Bringing Back OJ Simpsons Jersey Number
Five year Veteran Senorise Perry who played with the Miami Dolphins last year is now the new running back for the Buffalo Bills in 2019. When the team asked what jersey number he would like to wear he requested no. 32.
In an interview with the Athletic, he mentioned that he was surprised that the number OJ Simpson wore during his career. Senorise said “I thought it was retired,” running back Senorise Perry told The Athletic. “But then I was told it was available. Boom, I took it.”
OJ Simpsons jersey is retired at USC.
Bills Offering a Wedding at Halftime of Patriots Game
It’s an odd way to make fans a part of the game, but the Buffalo Bills are putting a unique twist on halftime festivities for a home game against the New England Patriots during the 2019 season.
According to the Buffalo News, the Bills are gauging interest to see if fans would be interested in getting married during halftime of their home game against the division-rival Patriots on September 29th.
The Bills are dubbin it the “Halftime Wedding Experience of a Lifetime”, and for some hardcore fans, it certainly can live up to the title.
The winning couple will get the honor of tying the knot during an on-field ceremony with 20 personal guests in front of fans in attendance during halftime.
Additionally, the coupe will get a custom Bills jersey and there will be a reception held after the wedding ceremony takes place.
If you, or anyone you know, is interested in getting hitched on the field, during a Pats/Bills game, then you can fill out this questionnaire.
