If you’re a fan of the 1990 movie ‘House Party’ then today is your day as it is set to be remade.
LeBron James’ production company, SpringHill Entertainment, is set to remake the popular 1990 film, which starred Kid ‘n Play.
The Cavs’ superstar spoke about how he may have to educate his younger teammates on what the movie is and what it meant.
“They are too young, I think,” James said, according to ESPN.
“They weren’t [born] when it came out.”
James then described that the movie is not a reboot.
“This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Everyone I grew up with loved ‘House Party.’ To partner with this creative team to bring a new ‘House Party’ a new generation is unbelievable.”
‘Atlanta’ writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori will pen the screenplay, according to the report. The movie will mark SpringHill Entertainment’s first feature-length narrative film.
“Listen, it’s fun, it’s an honor when I got the opportunity to produce it, reboot the whole movie, man, I had so much fun as a kid watching that movie,” James said on Tuesday.
“When I was growing up as a youngster I was like, ‘Man, I hope I get an opportunity to throw one of these house parties, where it’s just a lot of fun, a lot of joking around, dancin’, people just having a good time.'”
James also teased a cameo in the film.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun with it,” James said. “I maybe even make a cameo in it, but we’ll see.”
