ESPN’s New Streaming Service To Be $4.99 A Month

2 Min Read

ESPN announced on Monday that it will officially launch its own streaming service next week, on April 12th 2018 to be exact.

ESPN+ will cost $4.99 a month and will offer streaming access to live sports, original content, and on-demand programming via the ESPN app and their website, ESPN.com

“With ESPN+, fans have access to thousands more live games, world class original programs and on-demand sports content, all at a great price,” ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement.

ESPN+ will feature more than 180 MLB baseball games, 250 MLS soccer games,  live coverage of 31 PGA Tour events, “Top Rank Boxing on ESPN,” original content like “30 for 30,” and “thousands of live college sports events” from non-power conferences, according to USA Today.

ESPN’s 8 TV channels, such as ESPN and ESPN2, will still require a pay TV subscription, according to a report from TechCrunch.

ESPN, whose parent company is Disney, is embarking on a new world, one that the WWE Network has crafted over the past few years, and one with potential for a bright future, should it evolve properly.

Disney is also planning to launch its own streaming service in 2019 to compete with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, among others, and will be one of many companies that are or will provide non-cable options, as cable prices continue to hinder customers.
