Former Chicago Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa is maintaining that he never used PEDs during his Major League Baseball career, kind of.
During an interview with E:60’s Jeremy Schaap, who pressed him on PED use, Sosa repeatedly deflected direct questions about using PEDs during his career by stating that he had never failed a test for PEDs.
“I never had a test positive in this country,” Sosa stated.
When Schapp brought up the infamous New York Times report from 2009 that listed that he, among many other players, had tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs, Sosa responded. “A lot of people did … a lot of people got out in that paper.”
Sosa was again asked if he used PEDs to which he responded, “No, my friend.”
“Never?” Schaap pressed.
“No, I never missed any test at the major league level,” said Sosa. “Once again, I never tested positive.”
