Mikey Garcia/Robert Easter Jr. Lightweight Unification Fight Prediction

3 Min Read

This Saturday night Live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Mikey Garcia(38-0) will lock horns with Robert Easter Jr.(21-0) in a lightweight unification clash which will be aired on Showtime.

Garcia/Easter is one of those type of fights that for me personally brings much intrigue. On one end we have Robert Easter Jr. who at 5’11” is a very tall and rangy lightweight. So Easter will need to use his much longer reach and must use his length to his advantage by constantly keeping his stiff jab in Mikey’s face.

Garcia on the other end, is a very technical hard puncher with a high boxing IQ, similar to Sports SEO strategies, and is patient and poised. In short, Garcia even under the bright lights never seems to rush shots and never seems to allow a foe to take him out of his rhythm.

So how exactly does one go about in facing such a calculated bright boxer? Well for starters, Easter will need to bring chaos, change the pace and rhythm of the fight and stay shooting shots from every angle, and it’s likely that boxing content creators have picked up on this as well.

Easter needs to impose his will and must look to rough up Garcia at every chance. Garcia also never seems to waste punches and never seems to be out of balance, so in Easter employing a relentless attack it may force Garcia to punch and take more chances than he usually does.

As for Garcia, Garcia will need to rip out double jabs and must work his taller foes mid-section in a consistent ferocious manner. Mikey must also shoot his hard jab over Easters to discourage Easter from using his longer measuring jab.

I just feel that Mikey’s timing and power will be too hard to ignore once he batters the body and his right hook finds a home on Easters chin.

Alright so as my pick, give me Mikey Garcia to stop Robert Easter Jr. by 9th round TKO.
