Beltran/Pedraza Fight Results

4 Min Read

Bout 1- Junior middleweight, Sagadat Rakhmankul improves to 3-0 in a hard fought battle against Christian Aguirre. Aguirre falls to 7-3.

Bout 2- Az’s own, Breenan B-Fly Macias(3-0) displayed a complete attack as he worked Philip Adyaka(7-12)from top to bottom with crisp combinations to knock out his foe in the 2nd round of their bantamweight fight. After the fight, trainer Robert Garcia seemed thrilled at the work his fighter B-Fly put in.

Bout 3- Light heavyweight, Trevor McCumby(24-0-0-1), another Az fighter, absolutely battered the very tough Jessie Nicklow(27-9-3). Nicklow seemed to have injured his right arm, shoulder, or nerve strain of some sort as he dropped his arm in the 3rd round. As soon as Nicklow’s arm went numb, McCumby turned into a shark and went in for the kill as he assaulted Nicklow in the corner. McCunby wins by 3rd round tko as the referee jumped in to save Nicklow from additional damage.

Bout 4- Antonio Lozada Jr.(40-2-1) applied heavy pressure as he followed the mover Hector Ambriz(12-7-2) around the ring for the entire 8 rounds. At the end of it all, the ringside judges scored it a very unpopular draw in this lightweight contest.

Bout 5- Az native and Roberto Alcazar trained fighter Panchito C De Vaca(19-0) found himself in an exciting shootout against Jesus Serrano(17-7-2) as both featherweights traded bombs for most of the fight. Panchito wins it unanimously 79-72, 78-3 x 2 on the score cards.

Bout 6- Super bantamweights, Phoenix boxer Carlos Castro and Diuhl Olguin traded leather and clipped each other in exchanges for the majority of their clash. Castro takes it by unanimous decision improving to 21-0 as Olguin falls to 12-12-2.

Bout 7- Edgar Cantu(7-5-2) and his much taller super featherweight foe Robson Conceicao(9-0) battled it out in a tight 8 rounds. Conceicao seemed to land the harder punches but Cantu was not there to lay down as he kept fighting back. Conceicao wins it by unanimous decision.

Bout 8- WBO junior featherweight champ Isaac Dogboe(20-0) unleashed a beating on Hidenori Otake(31-3-3) to retain his title. Otake just got dragged into a fire fight from the jump and seemed rattled from the first flush shot that Dogboe landed. Isaac Dogboe wins by tko in the 1st round. This kid is a real problem.

Bout 9- USA Olympian Mikaela Mayer improved to 7-0 as she battered Edina Kiss(15-8)from post to post. I really enjoy watching Mayer do work, she uses her height and reach very well and has great technique . Kiss did not come out for the 4th round, Mayer wins by TKO for her ESPN & 130 pound debut.

Bout 10-MAIN EVENT-WBO lightweight titlist Ray Beltran(35-8-1) came out to very loud cheers from his home crowd and he along with Jose Pedraza(25-1) did not disappoint. This clash was very close and at times Pedraza’s southpaw stance and youth was too much. Beltran displayed a lot of heart and put his shots together very nicely to land his hard compact shots. As predicted in my prediction piece, Beltrans paper thin skin was cut and on top of that, Ray once again had to fight through adversity to pick himself off of the canvas in the 11th round. Pedraza closed strong to win by unanimous decision.

Swing bout- Junior welterweight from El Monte, Ca Arnold Barboza Jr.(19-0) forced the doctors to step in from doing anymore damage to Luis Solis(23-10-4) right eye as Barboza Jr. played target practice with short left hooks. Barboza Jr. wins by 5th round DR. Stoppage.
