New Orleans Saints’ cornerback P.J. Williams was arrested early Wednesday morning in New Orleans for driving under the influence (DUI), according to the New Orleans Advocate’s Ramon Antonio Vargas.
According to the report, police officers on the Crescent City Connection claim that they clocked Williams, 25, driving at 80 miles per hour in a 50-mph zone, and allege that he also used a traffic lane improperly and failed to signal a turn.
Officers arrested and booked Williams into the jail on counts of drunken and careless driving about 1:10 a.m. He refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Williams was released on his own recognizance a few hours later.
Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said on Wednesday he was aware of Williams’ arrest, but declined to make a comment.
