Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid Settle Grievances with NFL in Collusion Case

2 Min Read

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback and current free agent Colin Kaepernick and current Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid have officially reached a resolution in regards to their grievances they filed against the National Football LEague.

Attorney Mark Geragos posted the following on Twitter, on Friday.

“For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL,” Geragos and the NFL said a joint statement issued Friday (h/t ESPN).

“As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement so there will be no further comment by any party.”

Kaepernick filed a grievance back in 2017 under the collective bargaining agreement alleging collusion against signing him to an NFL contract and has been able to land a job in the league since his release from San Francisco.

“We continuously supported Colin and Eric from the start of their protests, participated with their lawyers throughout their legal proceedings and were prepared to participate in the upcoming trial in pursuit of both truth and justice for what we believe the NFL and its clubs did to them,” the NFLPA said, via a statement issued on Friday.

“We are glad that Eric has earned a job and a new contract, and we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well.”

At this time no further details have been reported and the matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement, but according to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, sources previously told him Kaepernick would not withdraw his grievance unless a “lucrative settlement” was agreed upon.
