Saints’ David Onyemata Cited For Marijuana Possession

1 Min Read

New Orleans Saints defensive tackle David Onyemata was recently cited for possession of marijuana, according to The New Orleans Advocate’s Nick Underhill and Ramon Antonio Vargas.

Per the report, Jefferson Parish (La.) prosecutors are unsure if they will formally charge Onyemata, a fourth round pick of the Saints back in 2016 out of the University of Manitoba.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office began investigating a package that was seized by United States Customs & Border Protection personnel up in Buffalo, New York, back on January 28th, and ultimately obtained a search warrant for Onyemata’s apartment on the following day, January 29th.

Deputies reportedly seized three ounces of marijuana, cannabis oil, marijuana edibles, and hemp powder from the search.

Onyemata is entering the final year of his rookie contract and this could seriously impede his negotiations with the Saints on a new deal.
