Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill Under Investigation

Published

on

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is under investigation for battery, according to the Kansas City Star’s Steve Vockrodt and Brooke Pryor.

Per the report, the team is aware that law enforcement is currently investigating Hill, adding that the Kansas Department of Children and Families is also investigating Hill.

“I can only confirm we received a report and an investigation is ongoing,” Mike Deines, spokesperson for DCF, said.

The Kansas City Star has obtained a police report from the Overland Park Police Department regarding a battery incident that lists a juvenile as being the victim, along with Hill’s fiancee, Crystal Espinal, listed under “others involved.”

While the report was dated as last Thursday, the exact date of the incident remains unclear, per the report.

“The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill,” the Chiefs said in a statement to The Star. “We’re in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities. We’ll have no further comment at this time.”

KCTV 5 obtained another Overland Park police report dated March 5th, a report of child abuse or neglect that was closed 3 days later when authorities declined to prosecute.

Hill has a troubling history. Back in 2014, Hill reportedly choked and punched Espinal, who at that time was eight weeks pregnant with their son. Hill pleaded guilt to domestic assault and batter by strangulation later in 2015.

The Chiefs have seen Hill blossom into a star, and they have been negotiating a contract extension with Hill that would make him the highest paid wideout in NFL history, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill Barred Indefinitely from Team Activities

Published

on

The Kansas City Chiefs announced that wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been barred indefinitely from all team activities until more is known about an audio recording that aired on KCTV in Kansas City in which Hill’s fiancée accused him of abusing their 3-year-old son.

While Hill avoided charges, the team is taking their own approach, and the league may as well.

“We were deeply disturbed by what we heard [on the recorded conversation],” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said, according to ESPN’s Adam Teicher.

“We were deeply concerned. Now, obviously, we have great concern for [fiancée] Crystal [Espinal]. We are greatly concerned for Tyreek. But our main focus, our main concern, is with the young child.”

“We are going to continue to gather information and we will make the right decision,” Veach said in his statement.

Hill’s place in the NFL, if these are indeed the facts, needs to be seriously looked at, and a stern message should be sent by the team, NFL, and hopefully the NFLPA that these actions are not tolerated whatsoever.

Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill Not Facing Child Abuse Charges

Published

Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, or his fiancee will not face charges, as the Johnson County (Kansas) District Attorney’s office has declined charges against the pair, according to ESPN.

However, there is a wrinkle as District Attorney Stephen M. Howe said that although he believes that a crime occurred, the evidence in the case doesn’t clearly establish who committed the crime.

Back on March 14th, Overland Park, Kansas officers were called to Hill’s home to investigate an alleged battery in which a juvenile was a victim, police reports indicated.

While Hill was not listed in the report, his fiancee Crystal Espinal was listed under “others involved.”

The Kansas Department of Children and Families has been investigating the alleged battery.

“This office has reviewed all the evidence compiled by these agencies and has declined to file charges against Tyreek Hill and Crystal Espinal,” Howe said on Wednesday during a news conference.

“We are deeply troubled by this situation and are concerned about the health and welfare of the child in question. We believe a crime has occurred. However, the evidence in this case does not conclusively establish who committed this crime.”

This wasn’t the first incident involving the Hill residence as officers were called to the home on March 5th to investigate a report of child abuse or neglect.

In that situation, Hill was named on the police report, but the Overland Park police closed the case three days later when prosecution was declined.

Hill could still face discipline from the NFL, such as a fine and/or suspension.

Tom Brady And Pats Play Record 8th AFC Championship Game, Seek 6th Superbowl

Published

It’s Championship Sunday and one of the NFL staples remain atop the league. The New England Patriots are appearing in their record 8th AFC title game in hopes of competing for a sixth title.

A season that most organizations would be happy with, was one of challenge for the Patriots. Usually a top tier team, they suffered bad losses to the Jaguars, Titans and Dolphins. However, in Patriot fashion along a weak AFC East, the Patriots finished 11-5, won a 10th straight conference title and secured a first round bye.

Kansas City will host New England in the AFC Championship game in what is a rematch from week six. That game featured an offensive clinic ,  As reported by CBS Boston, Brady went 24-35 passing for 340 yards and touchdown in that game; Mahomes went 23-36 passing for 352 yards and four touchdowns. The AFC Championship could very well play out the same way.

The Chiefs will be a tough out, They won their first home playoff game in 25 years last week against the Colts and are riding one of the most prolific offenses in history behind quarterback whisperer Andy Reid and phenome Patrick Mahomes who is arguably the NFLs best young QB.

In what is a David and Goliath matchup, Brady seems to imply they are the underdog. As he told CBS’s Tracy Wolfson, “I know everyone thinks we suck and, you know, cant win games,”.  Will the dynasty continue? Or will Reid and Mahomes hoist the Lombardi?

I’m leaning towards the game plan of Bill Belichick and veteran experience of Tom Brady in this one. I think a Patriot/Saints matchup is in order. Either way, it will undoubtedly be one for the ages.

Game Time: Sunday January 20th at 6:40ET/5:40CT on CBS.
