The radio voice of the Auburn Tigers, Rod Bramblett, and his wife died from injuries that they sustained in a car crash that occurred on Saturday night in Alabama, according to a report from ESPN.
Lee County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death of the Bramblett’s. Rod Bramblett was 52 and Paula Bramblett was 53.
Paramedics responded to a two-car crash in Auburn shortly after 6:00 pm on Saturday.
Per the report which cited the coroner’s office, Rod Bramblett was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he died of a severe closed head injury.
His wife, Paula, died of multiple internal injuries in the emergency room of East Alabam Medical Center.
The identity of the 16-year old driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash has not yet been released, but an investigation into how the crash occurred is currently taking place.
Bramblett was a three-time winner (2006, 2010, 2013) of the Alabama State Broadcaster of the Year award. He was honored as the National Broadcaster of the Year by Sports Illustrated in 2013, and was honored earlier this month, along with his longtime radio partner, Andy Burcham, for their tenure with the team.
