As the video game industry continues to rake in billions in revenue each year, it’s fair to question if the folks behind the games are being properly compensated, and protected.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, a candidate for President of the United States, is advocating for a union to protect those who work to build video games, linking to a recently published story from Time that highlighted the issue within the industry.
Sanders believes that a union could be helpful, as the gaming industry has only been further driven by the boom of Twitch and popular Twitch channels.
The video game industry made $43 billion in revenue last year. The workers responsible for that profit deserve to collectively bargain as part of a union. I’m glad to see unions like @IATSE and the broader @GameWorkers movement organizing such workers. https://t.co/Ia5gMG2v0w
