While the Los Angeles Lakers have already jumpstarted their offseason with the trade of Anthony David, they won’t be honing in on some of the other major, superstar free agents available this summer.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers won’t be landing Toronto Raptors’ superstar Kawhi Leonard or Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving this summer.
While the Lakers haven’t been connected to Leonard, who led the Raptors to their first ever NBA Championship while capturing his second career Finals MVP award, they have been linked to Celtics guard Kyrie Irving.
With the Lakers not going to land Irving, it clears a more direct path for Irving to land with the Brooklyn Nets, who have already made moves to clear the cap space necessary to land Irving, along with another max player, perhaps Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant.
