Over 1.5 Million Attend Raptors Parade, Two People Shot in Shooting

2 Min Read

It was supposed to be all about the Toronto Raptors celebrating their NBA Championship with the city of Toronto, and their diehard fans, on Monday, but a shooting has left a stain on the otherwise joyous celebration that saw over 1.5 million people celebrate.

The Toronto Police Department confirmed a shooting occurred Monday near Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, where the Raptors championship parade was taking place, adding that two victims suffered “serious but not life-threatening” injuries and there are two people in custody.

According to Stephanie Smyth of CP24, a woman was shot and police were trying to calm the crowd, in an effort to avoid a stampede as fearful fans rushed to exit.

Members of the media, and those in attendance, started sharing videos of the parade, and the chaos, on Twitter.
