Pro Cyclist Miguel Ángel López Slaps Fan

It can get pretty damn serious in pro-cycling, especially if you mess with a cyclist’s bike during a race.

During the Giro d’Italia race in Italy on Saturday, a spectator who was running alongside riders tripped up and accidentally fell into cyclist Miguel Angel Lopez’s bike, throwing him from his bike and sending him into a viral outburst that included him slapping the fan a few times, knocking the fan’s hat off of his head.

Lopez later apologies for the incident, but also blamed the fan in the same breath, saying, “I’m sorry for what happened. I was full of pure adrenaline. But there needs to be more respect for the cyclists.”
