Charges Dropped Against Phillies’ Odubel Herrera

1 Min Read

Domestic violence charges against Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera have been dropped after a hearing at the Atlantic City Municipal Court in New Jersey on Wednesday.

Herrera’s girlfriend did not want to proceed with the case, leading to the decision to dismiss, according to state prosecutors (h/t ESPN).

Herrera, 27, was facing charges of simple assault and knowingly causing bodily injury, and now must complete counseling, anger management, within 60 days.

Herrera was accused of domestic assault against his girlfriend back on May 27th at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, after officers found the 20-year-old woman with “visible signs of injury to her arms and neck that was sustained after being assaulted by her boyfriend.”

According to TMZ Sports, the woman was found with “hand print marking to her neck area and small scratches to her arms.”

“We believe that the complete dismissal of the misdemeanor charges was the right result,” Herrera’s attorney, Thomas Calcagni said.

Herrera was placed on administrative leave following his arrest, and it is unclear when MLB will lift the leave.
