The Miami Heat are looking to bring in Washington Wizards’ superstar Bradley Beal to play alongside Jimmy Butler.
According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Heat have “engaged” in trade talks with the Wizards for Bradley Beal.
Although the Wizards have informed Beal that they do not plan to trade him, Miami seems to be pushing talks, as they reportedly “love” the idea of bringing him on board, and could explore taking on the massive contract of guard John Wall.
Miami already landed Jimmy Butler on a four-year, $142 million max deal via a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers earlier in free agency, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Pairing Beal and Butler could instantly elevate the Heat to a legit contender in the Eastern Conference, and are looking to involve a 3rd team in the hopes that a deal can come to fruition, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.
Miami has been working at clearing cap space, trading Hassan Whiteside to the Portland Trail Blazers earlier on Monday, but still have more work to do for the Butler trade to go through.
Beal is coming off a career year in which he posted 25.6 points, 5.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game for Washington during the 2018-2019 season.
Washington has been firm in their intent to keep Beal and build around him as their franchise cornerstone, but Miami could eventually entice them to have a change of heart.
