Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Turned Down Contract Offer of $30 Million Annually

1 Min Read

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is looking for more than what the team has offered him thus far in their contract negotiations.

According to The Athletic’s Michael Lombardi, Prescott turned down a deal that would pay him approximately $30 million per year.

Prescott, who is set to hit unrestricted free agency following the 2019 season if a new deal is not hammered out, is slated to earn $2.025 million in base salary this upcoming season, under his current deal.

Dallas can’t seem to win in recent negotiations. Prescott turning them down is just another bump in a rocky road for the Cowboys, who are also dealing with the hold out of running back Ezekiel Elliott, who has two years left on his contract.

The Cowboys will eventually have to negotiate a new contract with wide receiver Amari Cooper, but Cooper isn’t causing waves at the moment.

Prescott is good, and still young, and is establishing himself as a true franchise quarterback, but it will be interesting to see just how much the Cowboys are willing to pay for Prescott’s exciting potential.
